Sufficient

Big Idea:  We have what it takes because God says we do.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.  Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.

Warm-up:

-Do you wrestle with these questions: Do I have what it takes? Do I measure up? Am I good enough? How do you respond when you ask yourself these questions?

– Can you remember a time when you thought you didn’t have what it took to accomplish the task? How did you respond? Did you step up? Did you shrink back? Why?

Game Time Discussion:

Do you have what it takes? Do you measure up? Are you good enough? These are questions I wrestle with all the time. Do you? Maybe it’s just me. I’ve learned how to battle these thoughts and questions. It has been by realizing and embracing that I don’t have what it takes, I don’t measure up, and I am not good enough, but Jesus Christ is. His grace is sufficient. And because He is sufficient, I am sufficient. I AM because the GREAT I AM says I AM. Enough said.

Concluding Thought:  Regardless of what we think we can or can’t do, God tells us He is with us every step of the way. God is with us in victory and God is with us in defeat. Because of what Jesus did on the cross for us, we are sufficient in Christ.

Game Time Challenge: Run the race to win today, you can be content without being complacent. Chase hard after what God has for you. When we win and achieve what we are after, God loves us. When we fail and don’t achieve what we are after, God loves us. God says we are sufficient in Him, not in our own actions.

 Prayer: God, thank you for being a God that loves us and has our back. We thank you for the sufficiency that we have in you because of Christ. You love us, you are for us, and you are with us every step of the day. Lord, may we live in a way that pleases you today. In Jesus name, amen.
